Summary of Position:

This position reports to the COO.  The Staff Accountant will provide support in all accounting functions within the organization including, but not limited to: monthly invoicing, account reconciliations, posting and verifying financial information, and financial reporting. 

Key Result Area’s (KRA’s):

Transactions

  • Responsible for basic transactional accounting
  • Assist in the invoicing and collections of our aging report by supporting the accounts receivable team
  • Reconcile vendor statements and compare to internal system reports and/or issue payments based on internal system report when no invoice is provided
  • Identify discrepancies in vendor statements and communicate appropriately
  • Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries, as needed
  • Process check requests on vendor payables
  • Maintain accounts payable spreadsheets and files
  • Understand pricing models and overall transactional accounting flow
  • Assist with entering incoming and outgoing payments into TAM, our accounting system, and posting journal entries
  • Perform other accounting duties and projects as requested
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
  • Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
  • Work collaboratively with staff to develop policies and procedures for self-pay situations, including when coverage is terminated due to non-payment
  • Answer client questions and contact as needed

Reporting

  • Prepare reports, financial statements, audits as needed

Compliance

  • Ensure accuracy of accounts and ledgers
  • Ensure payments are paid accurately and on time; And other duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications:

The Assistant Accountant candidate must have a High School Diploma or equivalent, and 1+ years of accounting or data entry experience, preferably in an insurance agency type of environment.  Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, double-entry bookkeeping, and standard business practices. Experience in Applied-Tam is a definite plus.

Working Conditions:

Primarily in an office environment. The noise level in this environment is moderate.  Will be expected to travel as needed to visit clients, training, etc.
